The NFL officially has a running back problem.
After Josh Jacobs, Saquon Barkley, and Tony Pollard didn’t get the contract extensions they were looking for, many took to the internet to convey their thoughts.
Of the hundreds to comment on the matter, Christan McCaffrey’s tweet received a large amount of traction.
McCaffrey called the current situation “criminal,” saying that these are “three of the best players in the entire league, regardless of position.”

McCaffrey was dealt to the San Francisco 49ers during the 2022 season.
He’s tied to the team until 2025, slated to earn over $20 million in the next three years.
While McCaffrey has routinely performed as one of the top backs in the league, so have these three athletes.
He believes that they should all get a significant payday, not unlike his current deal with the 49ers.
However, the running back position has slowly become a devalued position, especially with the current state of the league.
Teams have gone away from a run-first approach, going more pass-heavy across the league.
But, in the case of Barkley and Jacobs especially, they were two of the top-five backs last year in terms of total yardage.
This hasn’t turned into a massive payday that is given to other skill positions, which include tight ends, wide receivers, and quarterbacks.
McCaffrey isn’t the only player to publicly support the running backs, as countless others have sounded off on the topic.
Will the NFLPA step in, implementing some sort of change regarding salary at this crucial position?
