On Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers turned to left-hander Clayton Kershaw in hopes of securing a series win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

The three-time Cy Young and former MVP certainly had a game to remember.

The veteran left-hander did not allow a baserunner until the fifth inning, when Dylan Carlson picked up a base-hit.

Kershaw made it through seven innings, allowing just two hits and striking out nine without allowing a walk or a run.

Los Angeles won by a final score of 1-0 over the struggling Cardinals.

On Twitter, the Dodgers celebrated their win by hyping up Kershaw’s dominant outing.

Kershaw lowered his ERA to 1.89 on the season.

The left-hander also improved to 5-1.

Kershaw once struggled against the Cardinals, having lost four postseason games against them in 2013 and 2014 combined.

But the 35-year-old appears to have overcome his past.

He was able to completely dominate the Cardinals on Saturday, leading the Dodgers to their 15th win of the season and helping them keep pace with the first place Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West.

Over the years, Kershaw has dealt with a few injury issues, but the left-hander was on target on Saturday against a slumping and underachieving Cardinals lineup.

For his career, Kershaw has a total of 202 wins and has posted a 2.47 ERA over 2,619 innings of work.

He also has recorded 2,848 strikeouts and has a WHIP of 1.00.

The left-hander was the No. 7 pick in the 2006 draft and has pitched the entirety of his 16-year MLB career with the Dodgers.
