The Los Angeles Dodgers chose to let go of Cody Bellinger this past offseason.
The former MVP and Rookie of the Year was coming off of three consecutive down years at the plate and was ultimately non-tendered.
However, his story would take another interesting turn, as the Chicago Cubs took a chance on him.
The North Siders signed the former MVP to a one-year, $17.5 million contract.
So far, Bellinger is off to a very good start in a Cubs uniform.
The slugger is hitting .303 with seven home runs and 18 RBI.
He also has scored 23 runs and has posted a .973 OPS.

It’s important to keep in mind that the season is still only one month old.
Yet Bellinger is already producing at a high level again and appears to have rediscovered his old form.
Some may chalk it up to a change of scenery.
But this is the type of production Bellinger is known for and it’s what fans and those around the league have come to expect from him.
The Cubs were busy this winter.
They also signed Dansby Swanson and Trey Mancini to bolster their offense.
So far, Bellinger appears to be their most fruitful addition, having signed with the Cubs on a low-risk, high-reward deal that appears to be paying off for the team.
The 27-year-old hit just .210 last season with the Dodgers, but he is a two-time All-Star, a former Gold Glover, and a Silver Slugger.
The Cubs have found themselves right within striking distance of first place in the NL Central, as they sit at 4.5 games back.
