The New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to a surprising trade recently.

After selecting him in the first round of the 2021 draft, the Patriots officially moved on from Mac Jones by trading him to the Jaguars.

Jones was supposed to pan out for them and turn into their franchise QB, but he couldn’t make that happen.

He will be able to work alongside Trevor Lawrence, hopefully learning from him and being a backup that the team can rely on should Lawrence fall to injury.

Despite this being a potentially good fit for Jones, Colin Cowherd recently expressed his concerns about Jones.

After all, it is unusual that the Patriots traded away their first-round quarterback after three seasons.

“I was told by somebody I trust; you couldn’t coach him hard. You just couldn’t coach him hard. He pouted, petty,” Cowherd said.

“His best case scenario was going to be a fringe Top 10 QB”

Cowherd has heard from around the league that Jones has been a tough player to coach throughout his NFL career.

Despite being a highly touted player and a Heisman Trophy runner-up, Jones might not be as coachable as many thought.

This could have been a big reason for the Patriots trading him away, although it is unlikely that a representative from the team would ever say that outright.

Jaguars fans are curious what Jones’ role will look like on this team and what he will do with an opportunity to start should Lawrence go down.
