The Indianapolis Colts have their hands full right now.
Jonathan Taylor has formally requested a trade away from the team, with team owner Jim Irsay making it loud and clear that he has no intention whatsoever to move on from him at the moment.
Taylor reportedly wants to be the highest-paid running back in the league, which would mean he’d have to get more than the $16 million a year Christian McCaffrey is getting from the San Francisco 49ers.
That doesn’t seem possible at the time, but it’s clearly not because Irsay is short on cash.
According to The New York Post (via NFL insider Dov Kleiman), Irsay is planning to spend as much as $20 million to transport a large killer whale all across the country from a small enclosure in Miami all the way back to her home in the Pacific Ocean.

The orca, named Lolita, weighs 8,000 pounds and has been in Miami for 53 years, and she’ll now be transported to a 15-acre netted area in the Puget Sound off Washington State to be reunited with her pod.
While this is obviously a great and very positive gesture by Irsay, Taylor might feel frustrated and exasperated to find out about this.
He’s currently making just $4.3 million, which is obviously far below his stellar production.
But the market for NFL running backs has been ruthless lately, and that’s not likely to change any time soon.
Even so, Irsay will have to come up with a very good excuse not to pay Taylor after this.
