Commanders President Gets Honest On A Potential Name Change

It’s an exciting moment to be a fan of the Washington Commanders.

With Josh Harris and Magic Johnson taking over Dan Snyder’s team, the new front office seems determined to make big and ever-lasting changes within the organization.

That became even more evident when team president Jason Wright sat down with Key Adams on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” to discuss the franchise’s main priorities right now.

Wright cited changing the environment and building a winning culture, and making sure to find success on the field as first and foremost on his list.

Then, he talked about giving the fans a proper NFL experience at FedEx Field, citing more and better options for food, beverages, team apparel, and whatnot to fulfill all the promises made to the fans throughout the course of the years.

Last but not least, Wright talked about working close with the community, helping to empower Black-owned businesses, and making some major investments in the area.

Adams later asked him whether changing the franchise’s name was a priority right now, to which Wright admitted that it didn’t crack their list this week.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the Commanders won’t consider moving on from that name at some point, especially considering Magic Johnson had already hinted at that possibility.

But for now, it seems like they’re making it all about the most important things, and while a team’s name is obviously a crucial part of its identity, this organization was lost and there are bigger fish to fry at the moment.
