Dan Orlovsky Praises Patrick Mahomes’ Mindset After Big Loss

When Tyreek Hill left the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the 2022 season, analysts were hyper-critical of the Chiefs’ chances.

Many people doubted the Chiefs’ ability to succeed without Hill, who is one of the league’s best pass-catchers.

They found ways to win without Hill, which eventually led to a Super Bowl ring.

The Chiefs entered the 2023 season with a similar predicament at the receiver position.

Patrick Mahomes did not have an established number-one target at receiver, leaving him to figure it out as he went along.

As one might have expected, there have been several growing pains with a young receiving room.

However, as Dan Orlovsky has recently highlighted after the Chiefs’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Mahomes has never publically shamed his receivers.

The fact Mahomes has not 1 time thrown the WR group under the bus, going back to week 1…speaks volumes of the dude

Orlovsky said that this “speaks volumes of the dude,” that he is unwilling to pin losses on anyone but himself.

The Chiefs ended the game with five drops, one of which could have been the game-winner.

Marquez Valdez-Scantling got himself open after beating an Eagles receiver downfield, but he could not reel in the game-winning grab.

Instead of blaming Valdez-Scantling for dropping the ball, Mahomes instead talked about how he could have thrown a better pass to put his receiver in a better position.

Orlovsky might have been the analyst describing Mahomes’ character in this tweet, but this is a commonly-echoed sentiment across the league.

Mahomes is well-known for his off-field demeanor, a great compliment to his elite on-field play.

Can the Chiefs turn things around next week despite their problems with drops this week?
