For all of his career, Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers has received his fair share of criticism.
That criticism continued this season, as Davis has been excellent at times and sidelined at others due to injuries.
People have referred to him as “Always Damaged” and “Street Clothes,” poking fun at his inconsistency and inability to stay healthy.
But on Friday night, Davis again looked like one of the most dominant players in the NBA.
His teammate, D’Angelo Russell, was celebrating Davis after their crucial 123-111 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“Y’all can’t say nothing about 3,” Russell said before saying that Davis “came out, showed toughness.”

The toughness Russell was referring to revolves around the fact that Davis looked down for the count at one point.
He twisted his ankle in the middle of the game and for a moment fans were expecting the worst.
But instead of Davis leaving the game with his foot injury, he instead seemed more fired up and determined to win after that incident.
The twisted ankle was the start of the Lakers turning the game around, powered by Davis’ terrific 38 points, 17 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
It was the epitome of toughness and the rest of the Lakers squad took note.
The second half of the game belonged to Davis, who was a part of seemingly every play.
Other athletes on the roster deferred to him and let him do whatever he wanted – and it led to a very important victory.
Russell has sounded very happy since returning to the Lakers and he has also sounded very respectful and proud of his teammates.
Davis gave Russell and everyone on the roster plenty of reasons to be elated on Friday night and now the Lakers are the seventh team in the West.
