Inconsistent teams don’t get far in the NBA.
You cannot look like a championship contender one day and then struggle mightily the next.
That has been the case with the Los Angeles Lakers throughout the course of Darvin Ham’s tenure in charge of the team.
They have stepped up big time against contenders, and then they don’t look ready to play at times against lesser and beatable teams.
Considering that, the second-year coach acknowledged that the Lakers must approach every game with a killer mindset and not get bored with the little things or the details (via Spectrum SportsNet).
“We just got to keep stacking days… we can’t get bored with the details, the little things,” Ham said.

The Lakers are coming off a big win over the undermanned Minnesota Timberwolves, a team missing both Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert with injuries.
Still, they have struggled with consistency and that could come back to haunt them come playoff time.
This team is only as good as their defense, and they need to bring the same intensity every game.
They have one of the most difficult schedules in the league for the remainder of the season, and they’re not a lock to make the playoffs yet.
There’s still more than enough time to get things right and find their stride for when it matters the most, but the coach will have to do a better job of having his team ready to play.
Otherwise, it would be hard to justify him staying in Southern California beyond this season.
