The Philadelphia 76ers‘ partnership with James Harden has been rocky.
He arrived in the City of Brotherly Love to get away from the drama of the Brooklyn Nets, and Daryl Morey hoped he would also help him get rid of some drama of his own by parting ways with Ben Simmons.
Fast forward to today, and Harden has made it loud and clear that he doesn’t want to have anything to do with Morey or the Sixers anymore.
The Sixers held Media Day today, and Morey admitted that he’s still trying to seek a trade and find the best solution for all parties (via NBACentral).

However, Morey’s past actions make it difficult for us — or anybody — to believe that’s actually true.
Harden openly called him a liar, perhaps because he promised to sign him to a max contract extension and didn’t — which would be a violation of the league’s rules — or perhaps because he promised to trade him and didn’t.
If Morey is actually trying to find a trade for Harden, then the asking price must be borderline ridiculous.
Morey has a history of overpricing his assets and not meeting anyone in the middle.
This time, however, his strategy may not work, mostly because Harden’s trade value is as low as it’ll ever be.
He’s older, has a history of injuries and a questionable work ethic, is in the final year of a contract, and has forced his way out of three teams.
If anything, the Sixers may have to give up something to get rid of him.
