During every NFL training camp, teams that are set to play in a preseason game usually agree to joint practices.
That way they can get extra work in during the week against an opponent.
Also, it is a good way to get the competitive juices flowing before the real games start.
Two teams that were set to have joint practices this week were the Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints.
Yet, it appears those practices will no longer happen.
According to DJ Bien-Aime, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said his team is “banged up” and thought it was a good idea to cancel the practices.
DeMeco Ryans says “where we are as a team, we’re banged up, so I thought it’s in the best interest of our team,” to not have joint practices this week with the New Orleans Saints

This was a good move by Ryans as his team needs time to recover before the regular season.
The last thing he needs is more players getting injured before the real games start.
Ryans is a first-time head coach this year so he is still trying to learn how to lead his team.
But, looking after their health is a great way to earn the respect of his players.
Not many people are expecting the Texans to be competitive this year.
But, they are starting to build a team with a bright future.
In the latest NFL Draft, they selected both quarterback C.J. Stroud and pass-rusher Will Anderson Jr. in the first round.
The future of this franchise is in the hands of Stroud and he must be the one to lead Houston back to relevancy.
It will be fun to see the Texans this season thanks to their new-look roster.
But, expecting them to be in contention at any point this season is far fetched.
