Carlos Gomez was once considered a unique player.
He often times ran into trouble due to his antics on the field.
The idea of bat flips and crazy home run celebrations was unthinkable not too long ago.
Those reactions were considered disrespectful at the time.
However, the game has evolved, and it has done so for the better.
Gomez certainly thinks so.
The former MLB outfielder was often criticized for his boisterous attitude and style of play, but is at peace with the way things stand now, with bat flips and home run celebrations becoming more commonplace.
On the baseball podcast “Foul Territory,” Gomez discussed how he thinks the game has changed.
“This should be my era. … It’s fun. I love it.” @RealCarlosGomez says he used to question himself when he was criticized for how he played. He loves how the game has evolved.

Gomez commented on his past as a player and how he was often chastised for playing with the energy that he showed on a daily basis.
He even said that because people questioned him about it, he felt bad about it and was unsure of he was doing the right thing by displaying energy which at the time was considered improper for a baseball player.
But the former outfielder is glad to see that things have changed in this day and age and says that the way the game is played now is far more entertaining.
He even referred to this era as being his era.
Gomez has not played since 2019.
That was when baseball was starting to experience this paradigm shift.
But he certainly wouldn’t get into any trouble for watching his home runs fly and flipping the bat in this day and age.
