Former Player Makes A Bold Claim About Malik Monk

The Sacramento Kings got the best out of Malik Monk.

He was a very prominent prospect coming out of high school, but the Charlotte Hornets’ ever-struggling environment and some bad decisions of his own stood in the way of his development early in his career.

Monk is coming off the best season of his career and was one of the frontrunners to win Sixth Man of the Year, and he’s now expected to fetch a big payday.

With that in mind, former NBA guard Brandon Jennings gave him his flowers, and he shared a bit of a hot take about it.

In the latest edition of “Gil’s Arena,” Jennings went as far as to say that Monk was actually a better player than Donovan Mitchell (via NBACentral).

As good as Monk is, that’s a lot to say.

Mitchell is one of the best scoring combo guards in the game, a leader, and one of the most prominent playoff performers.

That’s why it took so much for the Cleveland Cavaliers to get him, and that’s why he’s going to get a huge contract extension.

Monk is a very good player, and he’s going to get a nice four-year deal in the offseason, with rumors of at least five teams interested in his services, but he’s just not in the same stratosphere as Mitchell.

Of course, NBA players often talk about their colleagues out of pure talent alone, and they’re quite biased at times.

We’ve seen it with guys like Michael Beasley or even Jennings himself.

But it’s one thing to be great in open gym runs and another in the NBA, and their roles are different for a reason.
