Garrett Wilson Explains Why He Showed Support To Zach Wilson

The New York Jets may have won Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, but they didn’t get to celebrate much as they lost Aaron Rodgers for the rest of the 2023 NFL season.

Rodgers suffered a ruptured Achilles early in the first quarter, a devastating end to his first season with the Jets.

Without Rodgers, Robert Saleh turned to Zach Wilson who came in and managed to lead New York to an overtime victory.

Wilson has been considered a bust of a pick given his struggles, but now the Jets are counting on him to step up in place of Rodgers.

Garrett Wilson was seen on the sidelines supporting Zach and when asked about it he explained that he wanted to let him know that he believed in him via Harrison Glaser of Take Flight Media.

“Cause of the effect that can have on people, belief,” Wilson said. “People believing in you, people you get to work with everyday believing in you. Sometimes it can seem like the world is against you, but it’s never really the case, we’ve always got our guys backs. We always want to make sure we’ve got our brothers back, & if he doesn’t know that, then I’m doing my job wrong. I want to make sure I give him all the empowerment in the world, & I know all the other guys feel the same about it.”

Garrett’s strong comments show how good of a teammate he is and that kind of support goes a long way.

For Zach, he may not be as talented as Rodgers but at least he should confident knowing his teammates have his back.
