A pretty strong rivalry has grown between the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers over the last few years.
It’s been a fairly one-sided rivalry, of course, since the Nuggets have won nearly every game they’ve played against LA.
Former Nuggets head coach George Karl dove into the rivalry a few times this season, tweeting out his support of the Nuggets while also attacking the Lakers.
But he wants to put that all behind him.
After his latest criticism of Lakers fans, he reached out to them on social media.
“I was not kind towards you this season. I let my Sports Hate go too far. I have deep respect for the Lakers and consider them the greatest sports team of the past 50 years. I’m sorry,” Karl tweeted.
He added, “Let’s live, learn and love together again. Ok?”

This tweet came just days after he sent a harsh message to those same Lakers fans.
“Wow what a meltdown for the Nuggets. Three home losses and a 45 point blowout in one Series! Will be interesting to see what happens in their offseason. But hey at least they’re not the Lakers, whose trolls and minions are celebrating tonight like their Team is a contender,” Karl tweeted out after the Nuggets lost in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals.
Karl is still a huge fan of the team that he coached for nine seasons.
During his era, the Nuggets battled the Lakers numerous times and fans of both the Lakers and Nuggets were incredibly devoted and fiery with their support.
All these years later, Karl still hasn’t let it go.
Karl isn’t currently coaching but he has made his opinions about basketball known again and again on social media.
Some of his posts have generated support from fans, while others have been criticized for going too far and being too ugly.
Apparently, Karl is going to try to put that behind him.
