At one point or another, sports fans have always dreamed of owning their favorite teams.
Be it an NBA, NFL, or MLB team, that’s secondary.
On paper, owning a team like the New York Knicks, the second-most valuable NBA franchise in 2023, sounds extremely exciting.
However, as per James Dolan, owner of the Knicks and Rangers, that’s far from the truth, via NBACentral on Twitter.
“I don’t really like owning teams,” Dolan said.

New York unarguably has some of the most passionate fans in the world, and managing not one but two teams there must be a hectic task.
But considering Dolan isn’t liked by most New Yorkers anyway, his recent remarks will further slip his place in their good regards.
Speaking of the Knicks, the franchise may be worth $6.58 billion, but it has been highly unsuccessful over the last few decades.
The Knicks only recently advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals for the first time since 2013.
Moreover, the Knicks lost, 4-2, against the Miami Heat in the series.
While the fans were much more cooperative this time around, the same cannot be said if a similar level of performance is produced next season.
After all, it doesn’t take long for New York fans to turn on their players, coaching staff, and ownership.
All things considered, Dolan’s comments about not liking his own teams may stem from this treatment from his own teams’ fanbases.
One simple solution to it would be to start bringing titles to the teams, but it’s easier said than done.
