Luka Doncic did it again on Friday night, scoring an eye-popping three-point shot in the final seconds of Game 2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves and giving his team a 2-0 lead.

Following the victory, head coach Jason Kidd was asked what the plan was.

Was the team counting on Doncic to score one of his amazing three-point shots?

“The play was to get Luka the ball and let Luka do what Luka does,” Kidd said, via NBA on Twitter.

When the team huddled up before the final possession, many fans predicted that perhaps Kyrie Irving or one of the team’s bigger stars would try to work their way into the paint, score an easier two-pointer, tie the game, and go into overtime.

But that wasn’t what happened and Kidd said it was all part of the plan.

Instead, it was all up to Doncic.

Kidd said that the player trusts his teammates so much that he would have made the best choice possible at the time.

In his mind, a stepback three-pointer with just seconds to go was the right more.

This was a choice that led to victory and now the team is only two wins away from making the Finals for the first time in years.

Doncic has made many plays like this one in the past but they haven’t always paid off.

Therefore, he knew that it was a risk that could have ended with his team losing the game, but he was willing to take it.

The Timberwolves’ defense wasn’t able to stop Doncic and he silenced the team and the crowd with a miraculous shot.

Now the Mavericks just need to keep building on this impressive, somewhat surprising lead in the series in order to compete for a championship.
