Jimmy Garoppolo Shares His Thoughts On Dak Prescott, Trey Lance Situation

Trey Lance was recently traded to the Dallas Cowboys, a move that surprised many pundits across the league.

Lance had an uphill battle for the starting job with the San Francisco 49ers given the instant success of Brock Purdy.

Being traded has its perks.

While it can be a tough pill to swallow, especially after two years, Jimmy Garoppolo recently chimed in, supporting Lance.

As Garoppolo shared via NFL Total Access, “There’s always a younger guy trying to come in, and obviously, the coaches want younger, cheaper players.”

He was quick to encourage Lance on his NFL journey, saying “It pushes you.”

Garoppolo’s battle as a starter was nothing short of tumultuous.

He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2014 draft.

Despite his high draft capital, Garoppolo started just two games for the Patriots, sitting behind Tom Brady.

He never gave up, and later became the starter for the 49ers after being traded.

Now, Garoppolo is slated to be the starting quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, signing a three-year contract with the team.

Garoppolo’s NFL story could have ended quickly if he gave up, knowing he was a backup to Brady.

However, he kept giving it his all, believing he had what it takes to make it in the league.

His encouragement to Lance will hopefully keep him going as he looks to carve out a path as a starter.

Only time will tell what Lance’s NFL ceiling is, but the Cowboys are slated to help him get there.
