During his playing career, Johnny Manziel always seemed to make a spectacle of himself, which rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and ultimately ended his professional career prematurely, with the Cleveland Browns wanting no part of what the Heisman Trophy winner was bringing to the table.
Even though Manziel’s career in the NFL didn’t go as planned, the former Texas A&M superstar has been able to get his life together in his post-playing career as he’s gotten a lot of perspective after failing to live up to expectations as a first-round draft pick.
Recently, Manziel made an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast with Shannon Sharpe and talked about a number of different topics, including how tragic it is that former USC superstar running back Reggie Bush hasn’t been given back his Heisman Trophy with all the changes that have been made in college sports.
Manziel has been so disgusted by the way Bush has been treated and not acknowledged for his achievements at USC that he is boycotting the Heisman Trophy ceremony until the former Trojan gets his trophy back, as he took to Twitter to announce his intentions on Saturday.
After careful thought and consideration I will be humbly removing myself from the Heisman trophy ceremony until @ReggieBush gets his trophy back. Doesn’t sit right with my morals and values that he can’t be on that stage with us every year. Reggie IS the Heisman trophy.

With so many changes in college sports regarding players getting compensated, it makes no sense that Bush would still be punished for taking money and gifts back when he was the face of college football and simply trying to help his family.
Even though Bush went on to have a successful NFL career and won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints, the fact he still doesn’t have his Heisman Trophy is tragic, and hopefully, this noble act by Manziel will help the former USC star get it back.
