Evan Fournier wants out of the New York Knicks but he isn’t getting his way right now.
Fournier is making no secret about his desire to leave the Knicks as soon as possible.
In fact, according to the New York Post, per NBACentral, he spoke in some pretty stark terms about this current situation.
Discussing it with French radio station RTL, Fournier said he was being “held hostage” by the Knicks.
“I’m still in New York at the moment. I want to leave. But beyond leaving, I want to have the opportunity to get some playing time back. That’s all,” Fournier said.
He added: “I just want to play, that’s all. It’s true that finding another club, changing franchises, if that’s what you have to do to play again, that’s what I would like to do.”

Things haven’t been great between Fournier and the Knicks lately.
He only appeared in 27 games with the team last season, starting in just seven of them.
That was a shocking change compared to the season before when he played – and started – in 80 games.
During his brief 27 games in 2022-23, Fournier averaged 6.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
It’s not entirely clear why head coach Tom Thibodeau decided against using Fournier but the French player went along with the plan – until the season ended.
It was then that he started to publicly say that he expected to be gone in the summer.
However, the Knicks never traded him away and he currently remains on their roster.
But unless something substantial changes in the next few weeks, it’s very likely that Fournier won’t be getting many minutes in the upcoming season.
Therefore, he wants to leave and find a team that will give him more time on the court.
However, it sounds like there are no new developments in this situation.
So Fournier might be stuck in New York for a bit longer.
