Several weeks ago, the Los Angeles Lakers officially unveiled the first statue honoring the late Kobe Bryant.

It was a very special moment for Bryant’s family and the team and was met with a hugely positive response from fans.

But now some glaring errors on the statue are standing out.

As noted by Andre Voigt, via NBACentral, the Bryant memorial has several typos on it.

The statue has incorrect spellings of “Jose Calderon,” “Von Wafer,” and “Coach’s Decision.”

It seems like Kobe Bryant’s statue has misspelled ‘Jose Calderon,’ ‘Von Wafer,’ and ‘Coach’s Decision.’

It is shocking that such a highly-anticipated, professional piece of art would have these sorts of misspellings.

Thankfully, they can be fixed rather easily and probably will be as soon as possible.

The Bryant statue was shown to the world on February 8, 2024, a nod to his numbers 8 and 24, as well as his daughter’s number 2.

When revealing the memorial, Bryant’s widow Vanessa said the Lakers plan to create two more statues celebrating Bryant in the years ahead.

That means that Los Angeles fans will get to see a lot more of Bryant around Crypto.com Arena.

Hopefully, none of the other statues will have these sorts of mistakes.

The Lakers are going to fix these problems very soon but it’s not clear if they will address them or apologize.

The Bryant statue has already drawn a ton of attention since its reveal.

It is now a major attraction for Lakers fans who are visiting Crypto.com Arena and is sure to stay that way for years to come.

During his 20 years in the NBA, Bryant scored 25 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game for the Lakers.

He is easily one of the most important LA players of all time and the attention surrounding this statue proves that.
