The Detroit Lions had a lot of questions to answer ahead of the NFL Draft.
Many around the league had suggested that the Lions should draft a quarterback, as there was growing uncertainty surrounding Jared Goff.
Not only did the Lions not use early-round capital on a quarterback, but it appears that Goff may be the Lions’ long-term answer after all.
According to Michigan sportswriter Dave Birkett, GM Brad Holmes described Goff’s contract talks as being “in a good place.”

Goff is tied to the Lions through the 2024 season, but his current contract was negotiated with the Los Angeles Rams.
The Lions’ front office has expressed that they trust Goff moving forward, and he has established a great rapport with his teammates.
During the 2022 season, Goff had the sixth-highest amount of passing yards in the league, the fifth-highest amount of passing touchdowns, and threw just seven interceptions.
Not to mention, the Lions have added significant offensive pieces over the past two years, including Jahmyr Gibbs, who they took at No. 12 this year.
With any luck, the Lions will be set with Goff at the helm, not needing to go out and find an unfamiliar quarterback to run their system.
Dan Campbell has transformed the culture of the Lions, which Goff has been a large part of.
Will the organization put its money where its mouth is, signing Goff to a contract extension past 2024?
It may depend on how the Lions do in 2023, as they were just one game short of the playoffs in 2022.
