It’s almost odd to see the New England Patriots going through a rebuild because of their consistency over the past couple of decades.

Former head coach Bill Belichick led the Patriots to six Super Bowl titles, but the franchise finally needed to hit the reset button after a couple of seasons going nowhere.

New England hasn’t been the same since Tom Brady decided to leave for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it isn’t surprising given that he was their franchise quarterback.

Brady helped overcome any roster limitations or defensive woes the Patriots had and replacing him has been as difficult as one could imagine.

Although Brady was known for his legendary exploits on the field, he also was considered by many to be a good teammate.

For example, Matt Cassel said that Brady helped him a lot during the 2008 NFL season via NBC Sports.

“He was remarkable with me throughout that season… he was the first guy to call me after games,” Cassel said.

Brady suffered a season-ending injury in the first game of the 2008 NFL season, paving the way for Cassel to start for New England.

Cassel had been a career backup to Brady up until that point, but did admirably in the future Hall of Famer’s place.

Cassel led the Patriots to an 11-5 record, but the team just missed the playoffs though the season was lost anyway once Brady went down.

Regardless of the result, Cassel sounded like he wanted the world to know just how helpful Brady was and that he put the team first.
