The New York Yankees are fortunate to have a stacked roster that features stars such as reigning MVP and Team Captain Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Jose Trevino, Gerrit Cole, Nestor Cortes, DJ LeMahieu, and others.
LeMahieu in particular not only brings power, but a ton of versatility, as he can play multiple positions on the field and serve in multiple roles.
This season, he’s off to a decent start with the Yankees, hitting for a .250 average with two home runs, seven RBI, and an .826 OPS.
On MLB Network, Jon Morosi discussed just how important the veteran slugger and super utilityman is to the Yankees as they look to return to the postseason.
“When LeMahieu registers an RBI…the @Yankees win more than 70% of the time…he is the barometer for this team.”

Morosi discussed how the Yankees are going to construct their lineup with stars such as Stanton and Harrison Bader both on the injured list.
There are obviously different ways the Yankees can do this.
Morosi noted that a silver lining in the midst of all of this is that they have the flexibility to hit LeMahieu in the heart of the order, particularly in the fifth spot.
He then talked about what LeMahieu means to the Yankees and how he is a truly underrated part of the team.
While Judge is widely considered the MVP of the team, as Morosi alluded to, LeMahieu is just as important and his contributions should not go unnoticed.
Morosi pointed out an important stat that shows that when LeMahieu registers an RBI, the Yankees win 70% of their games.
He closed out his statement by referring to the slugger and utilityman as “the barometer” of the team.
