The San Diego Padres are set to play a brief two-game series with their cross-state and National League West rivals, the San Francisco Giants, this coming weekend.
Interestingly, the series will take place in Mexico City as Major League Baseball attempts to expand its international reach and grow worldwide.
The Padres in particular are an international organization, with several prior connections to Mexico.
On MLB Network, analysts Lauren Shehadi and Jon Morosi previewed the series these two teams will play against each other this coming weekend, with Morosi talking about how the Padres have fared in terms of expanding their international reach.

Morosi started off by stating that the Padres are indeed a very international franchise, citing their connections to Mexico and their relationship with the country.
The Padres won’t be making their maiden voyage to Mexico this coming weekend, having played there several times, including the Monterrey Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2018.
Morosi also noted that the Padres are one of many teams to have a Spanish radio broadcast team to help connect with fans on both sides of the border between Mexico and the United States.
This time, however, the Padres will be coming to the capital of Mexico, that being Mexico City, and Morosi mentioned that it’s yet another great opportunity for the team to expand its reach and make further connections with fans from all over the globe.
The Padres will head into the series with a record of 13-13 as they try to catch the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West.
