When the 2023 offseason began, one of the first moves that the Dallas Cowboys made was putting the franchise tag on Tony Pollard.

At the time, this was a signal to many that the team would move on from Ezekiel Elliott, which they eventually did.

After becoming a free agent, many around the league have speculated where Elliott would end up after spending his entire career with the Cowboys.

In a recent podcast appearance, Trey Wingo pointed to the Philadelphia Eagles as a potential landing spot for Elliott.

The Eagles have recently moved on from Miles Sanders, and don’t necessarily have a replacement on their roster at the moment.

Recently, the Eagles have been linked to running back prospect Bijan Robinson, who has completed an in-person meeting with the team.

Given their draft position of 10th overall, the Eagles could find themselves in a favorable spot to draft Robinson.

However, if the team is looking to employ the services of a veteran, Elliott could be their choice.

“Jalen Hurts is their red zone running back,” said Wingo.

However, he later added, “You put Elliott in there, and that dynamic becomes even more difficult to defend.”

Last season, Hurts had 165 rushing attempts in the Eagles’ regular season games, which was second only to Sanders’ 259.

However, when looking at the red zone, those statistics take a dramatic shift.

Hurts had 44 rushing attempts inside of the 20-yard line, just one attempt less than Sanders.

Within the five yard-line, Hurts had 20 attempts, the second-most in the entire league.

For comparison, Elliott had 16 attempts within the same distance last year.

If this duo was to happen, the Eagles could turn into a nearly unstoppable force, especially in first-and-goal situations.
