The Cincinnati Bengals are known to pull off big playoff runs after slow starts.
However, their performances two weeks into the 2023 NFL season are alarming.
They put up only three points in their season opener against the Cleveland Browns and lost by three to the Baltimore Ravens a week later.
These results indicate that quarterback Joe Burrow isn’t 100 percent healthy.
He did have a decent game against the Ravens, with 27 completions for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
However, his Week 1 output was alarming, mustering only 82 passing yards and a completion rate below 50 percent.
To turn things around, Nick Wright suggests that Burrow sits out their remaining games before their Week 7 bye to continue his recovery.
“Will the Bengals be totally dead at 2-4?” Wright said during a recent episode of FS1’s First Things First.

Some might disagree with Wright’s suggestion, but it does make sense.
If Burrow were to sit out and let his calf injury heal further, the Bengals would play against the Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, and Seattle Seahawks before their bye.
Winning two of those four games could keep their head above water while waiting for Burrow to recover fully.
Having him healthy gives them the best chance of winning in the long term.
Last season, the Bengals were 4-4 before ending the regular season with an eight-game winning streak.
Following Wright’s wisdom might help the Bengals achieve the same turnaround.
