Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets may be just weeks away from claiming his third MVP trophy.
But no matter what happens, Jokic believes the race for that end-of-season award has become too much.
“I think the whole MVP conversation is getting out of control… I think I’m playing good basketball…I think a couple guys deserve to have the award,” Jokic said, per Harrison Wind via Legion Hoops.

This is the exact sort of answer that one would expect from Jokic, who has never been drawn to the awards and accolades.
All that has mattered to him is winning as much as possible and scoring a championship victory.
He did that last season but Jokic is still playing some of the best basketball of his career.
He might claim that he’s just playing “good” basketball, but he is unquestionably one of the best players alive.
For much of the season, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers looked like the frontrunner for MVP.
With his numerous injuries, he was prohibited from the prize, leading the way for Jokic to win.
With that being said, Jokic has rightfully earned this honor, scoring 26.6 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9 assists per game.
Jokic says that multiple players in the league deserve MVP but he seems to be the clear favorite to win it again.
The conversation around MVP has indeed been very complicated this year, with Embiid’s injury and others like Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Luka Doncic competing hard to win.
Jokic believes it’s been too much but the good news is that in a matter of weeks, it’ll be over.
