The Minnesota Timberwolves are back in the Western Conference Finals.
For just the second time in franchise history, the Timberwolves will host a game on the second-biggest stage in competitive basketball.
Notably, they’re also favored to win the first game.
As shown by ESPN BET on Twitter, the Timberwolves are 4.5-point favorites over the Dallas Mavericks, and that’s despite the fact that Jason Kidd’s team had an extra day to rest after taking down the Oklahoma City Thunder in the previous series.

The Mavericks beat the No. 1 seed in just six games, and they look like a legitimate threat to go the distance this season.
Even if Luka Doncic isn’t at full strength and has struggled to shake off his knee injury, the Mavericks have been an elite defensive team, and any time you have two of the most talented and impactful scorers in recent NBA history together, something special can happen.
The Timberwolves, on the other hand, showed a lot of character by staying locked in after three consecutive losses to win back-to-back games over the defending NBA champions to secure a spot in this stage.
Whatever happens, we’ll have a new NBA champion this season, with the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics going at each other in the Eastern Conference Finals in a series that might end up being kind of lopsided.
As for the WCF, it will be very hard to predict who’s going to get the nod and punch their ticket to the biggest stage in the league.
