Pau Gasol might as well be one of the most accomplished international players in NBA history.

Often overlooked and underrated, the Spanish big man had a legendary career, that’s for sure.

Gasol put the ever-struggling Memphis Grizzlies on his shoulders, making a relatively new franchise become relevant.

He later teamed up with Kobe Bryant, who made sure to toughen him up and make him the perfect complement for one of the greatest players to ever do it.

Together, Gasol and Bryant led the Los Angeles Lakers to three trips to the NBA Finals, winning two championships and building a relationship that loomed large in both of their lives.

Now, he’ll join his best friend where they were always supposed to end up: in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

That’s why Pau took to Twitter to express his gratitude and how humbled he was by this incredible achievement, one that he fought with tooth and nail to accomplish.

When this journey started, I never thought I would be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Thanks to all of you who always have been next to me

Some might not be fond of Gasol or think that he’s not Hall of Fame worthy, but his résumé speaks for itself.

He’s a two-time NBA champion, six-time All-Star, made it to two All-NBA third teams, was named Rookie of the Year, had his No. 16 jersey retired by the Los Angeles Lakers, and won countless accolades in European and FIBA basketball, including multiple gold medals.

He’s also the second-leading scorer in the regular season for European players (20,894 points), trailing only Dirk Nowitzki in that regard.
