The Minnesota Timberwolves needed to win Sunday night’s Game 3 against the Dallas Mavericks in order to have any hopes of making the Finals.

Instead, they lost 116-107 and their chances of competing for a championship are all but gone.

On Monday’s “Undisputed,” Paul Pierce said the Timberwolves are now “mentally broken” and did not make the proper adjustments necessary to keep them in this series.

“I’m not too sure KAT can be your second-best player on a championship team,” Pierce said.

Anthony Edwards had a stronger game on Sunday night, scoring 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists.

He was looking more like himself after a couple of troubling games to open the series.

But the Timberwolves just didn’t have what it takes to beat the Mavericks.

Maybe it’s because they had just lost two games at home or perhaps they expelled all their energy in the series against the Denver Nuggets, but the Timberwolves have looked exhausted and out of sorts.

Now they stand on the brink of elimination, down 0-3 against the Mavericks.

As all NBA fans know, no team has rebounded from being down 0-3.

During Game 3, Karl-Anthony Towns posted 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists.

He was supposed to come out with more energy and more production and the lack of both hurt his team in a huge way.

For a number of reasons, the Timberwolves looked depleted and out of energy.

After a very good start to the playoffs, it looks like it’ll end in disappointment.

But even though things aren’t going their way, the future still looks bright for Minnesota.

They most likely won’t beat the Mavericks in this series but they have a postseason to be proud of.
