The New Orleans Pelicans may undergo roster changes in the summer but their front office is already experiencing a shakeup.
According to Shams Charania, the Pelicans are promoting Swin Cash, a former WNBA star and Naismith Hall of Famer, to Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations.
This move makes Cash one of the highest-ranking women in any NBA front office.

Cash’s former title with the team was Vice President of Basketball Operations and Team Development.
It may seem like a small change but this move gives Cash more power and helps the Pelicans forge a path forward.
This isn’t the only front office adjustment the team is making.
On Tuesday morning, the Pelicans also announced that Bryson Graham had been promoted to general manager and Jon Moul had accepted a job as Senior Director of Cap and Strategy.
The Pelicans are obviously changing things in preparation for what may be a very busy summer.
There is a lot of speculation about New Orleans radically changing the roster.
Many people believe that Brandon Ingram could be leaving the team although it’s not clear which players would come to New Orleans in exchange for him.
The Pelicans ended last season as the eighth team in the West with a 49-33 record.
That’s still quite far from where they want to be and they are tired of consistently coming up short of their goals.
With a healthy Zion Williamson, some roster changes, and a new-look front office, the Pelicans could be facing their best season in years.
It’ll be fascinating to see what Cash and her coworkers do in the days and weeks ahead.
