The NFL Draft is rapidly approaching, and teams are beginning to finalize their draft boards after holding prospect visits.
During this time, many analysts and fans alike put together their best mock drafts, to predict the draft order.
Every year, several players from marquee positional groups emerge as consensus favorites.
For example, at the wide receiving position this season, many have touted Zay Flowers, Jaxon Smith-Njibga, and Quentin Johnston as three of the best prospects.
In a recent segment on Good Morning Football, however, Peter Schrager outlined one of his favorite receiving prospects, whom he believes to be a dark horse at the position.
“A prospect people aren’t talking enough about right now is WR Jonathan Mingo. He’s 6-2, 220 pounds, has interviewed incredibly well, and I know he’s a lot higher on teams’ boards than the stuff we’re all reading online.”

During this segment, Schrager talks about Jonathan Mingo’s player profile at length.
For starters, Mingo ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at the combine, which impressed Schrager, given his 220-pound frame.
Mingo also had the seventh-most receiving yards in the SEC in 2022 and had the fourth-most yards after contact as well.
While Mingo isn’t getting a lot of attention on TV, as Schrager points out, many teams in the league have him on their radar.
He could sneak into the first round, as Schrager dictates.
Over the past several seasons, teams across the league have prioritized drafting receivers in the first two rounds.
They have understood that to help build a roster, having elite, young receiving talent is one of the best ways to do so.
Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase are two examples of instant difference-makers at the position, which is what Mingo could potentially provide.
