The MLB trade deadline is coming up rather quickly.
The last day teams are allowed to freely make trades is on August 1.
One team that should be aggressive to improve their roster before that date is the Philadelphia Phillies.
Coming off winning the NL pennant last year, the Phillies have massive expectations surrounding them.
Among the names that could be available for trade, one stands out among the rest.
That is Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani.
With the Angels having another bad season it would make sense that they would look to trade Ohtani at the deadline.
That way they can get something for him if he plans to leave in free agency this offseason.
According to Joe Giglio of SportsRadio 94WIP, he thinks the Phillies should trade whatever is necessary to land Ohtani.
“I would trade whatever it takes, and I don’t know exactly what it is going to take because we’ve never seen a player like this…I believe the Phillies would win it all if they get Shohei Ohtani.”

Giglio also believes the Phillies would “win it all” with Ohtani in the mix.
Ohtani is a once-in-a-generation player and someone that can fix two problems on any team.
He is an ace on the mound and the MLB leader in home runs.
Whichever team can land Ohtani will shift the landscape of the league.
Many teams are going to be unable to meet the Angels’ massive return for Ohtani.
Since he is only a rental, it will be difficult to give up a large package of prospects without a guarantee that Ohtani will re-sign.
Even still, for any team that thinks they can win the World Series this year, Ohtani could be the missing piece.
