It has been a while since the Detroit Pistons have been a winning basketball team, and they still have a long way to go to simply make the playoffs again.
They finished 14-68, which was the worst record in the NBA, this season, and it was the second straight season in which they lost at least 65 games, as well as the fourth straight season in which they have dropped 52 or more games.
But on Thursday, the Pistons made a move they believe will help them move in the right direction by hiring Trajan Langdon to be their new President of Basketball Operations, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

Langdon is currently the general manager of the New Orleans Pelicans, a job he has held for five years.
During that time, he oversaw the Anthony Davis trade which brought them borderline star forward Brandon Ingram, as well as the drafting of Zion Williamson and the acquisition of sharpshooter CJ McCollum.
Some have felt the Pelicans have had enough talent to become dark horse contenders in the Western Conference the last couple of seasons, but during Langdon’s time in charge, they have made the playoffs just twice and haven’t won a postseason series.
Langdon now joins a Pistons team that has some intriguing talent but is very much at the ground level of it’s rebuilding project.
Detroit has made the playoffs just three times in the last 16 seasons and hasn’t advanced past the first round that entire time.
But in Cade Cunningham, they have a young stud they’re hoping will develop into a legitimate star and franchise player very soon.
