Ravens OC Comments On Why Lamar Jackson’s Input On The Offense Is Important

NFL fans could be treated to a new-look Baltimore Ravens in 2023.

During the Lamar Jackson era, the Ravens have been a run-first team, given Jackson’s athleticism and skillset.

He hasn’t ever been among the league leaders in passing attempts, which some analysts have viewed as negative.

However, after the team brought in Todd Monken as their offensive coordinator, it was a sign of potential change.

Monken was recently interviewed about the upcoming year, saying, “If you empower your players, they’re more receptive to their ideas,” per Jamison Hensley.

This was in direct response to Jackson sending him some ideas about routes.

It appears that Monken takes a player-first approach to coaching.

By giving players this opportunity to bring their ideas forward, it gives them a chance to be a part of the decision-making process.

Monken comes to the Ravens from the University of Georgia, where he spent three seasons.

Even though it was at the collegiate level, Monken’s offenses were among the most potent across the NCAA, winning two championships.

Will a similar mindset work with the Ravens, bringing them greater success than they have had in previous seasons?

While that remains to be seen, a change might be well-needed for this team.

Since the emergence of Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals have dominated the AFC North.

This, paired with projected growth from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns could present a tough test.

If Monken’s offense does work, it could provide the type of divisional shakeup the Ravens have been hoping for.
