After a surprising run to the playoffs in 2022, the New York Giants fell back down to earth in 2023 as they missed the postseason.
The Giants were ravaged by injuries on the offensive end, including the loss of quarterback Daniel Jones who tore his ACL.
Jones signed a four-year extension in the offseason, making his injury a massive setback for the franchise.
Armed with the No. 6 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, New York could very well look for Jones’ replacement as the veteran has been up and down even when healthy.
Cutting bait on Jones would be a backward move for the Giants, though quarterback play is the most important thing when it comes to winning.
However, people like Rick Pitino believe New York should stick with Jones and give him the players needed to succeed via his personal Twitter account.
“Working out n these shows keep asking should the Giants trade @Daniel_Jones10. Why not talk about things that possibly could happen. Give Danny Dimes some protection n he will be terrific. Patience is a virtue – no more Geno Smith’s becoming outstanding elsewhere,” Pitino said.

To Pitino’s point, New York lost several starting offensive linemen during the 2023 NFL season which forced Jones to try and create out of structure more often than not.
However, it remains to be seen whether or not Jones will be able to regain his form given the nature of his injury.
Getting offensive line help would be a good first step, but the jury’s still out on Jones as the franchise’s quarterback.
