For a while, we have known that the Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins, and Oakland Athletics are routinely among the teams with the lowest average attendance in MLB.
The Rays and the Marlins are both competitive and have seen average fan attendance increase a bit this year.
The Marlins have a modern ballpark, too.
The A’s, on the other hand, have had some embarrassing numbers but the ownership is to blame there for fielding a Triple-A team in order to save costs.
Now that the A’s are about to move to Las Vegas within the next three or four years, the league is expected to make a decision regarding the Rays relatively soon.
There is a chance they stay in Tampa, but there is also a chance they relocate.
In any case, after the Rays’ future is addressed, the Commissioner wants to add two more teams.

This has been the worst-kept secret in the history of professional sports, in fact.
Everybody knows Manfred wants 32 teams in the league.
It will happen eventually.
There are several cities that are preparing their bids and cases.
There is the Nashville Stars, the Orlando Dreamers, another project in Salt Lake City, and other potential destinations for an MLB franchise.
We will know which cities will get an MLB team in due time, but the league will be migrating to 32 teams in the not-so-distant future.
