Although the 2024 NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics is still a few days away, fans can still get their basketball fix by tuning into the 2024 WNBA season.

The WNBA is experiencing massive growth in viewership and interest and a lot of it can be attributed to Caitlin Clark, who was selected first overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Clark is one of the most decorated collegiate athletes and is immensely popular in basketball circles because of he electric play-style as both a shooter and passer.

The Fever are desperate to make it back to the playoffs after years of missing out, and Clark is expected to be the star to get them back there.

However, Clark’s popularity hasn’t sat right with some of her peers in the league and it was most evident in Indiana’s recent win over the Chicago Sky when guard Chennedy Carter pushed her to the ground.

Carter’s cheap shot sparked hot debates over social media and even Robert Griffin III chimed in on the drama via his personal Twitter account.

“Okay, this IS HATING on Caitlin Clark. Face guarding, extremely aggressive play and the occasional hard foul can be describe as competitiveness. Going out of your way to call her out of her name and body check her to the floor without the ball is HATING,” Griffin tweeted.

Carter and other WNBA players have seemingly taken it upon themselves to rough up Clark in her rookie year, presumably because of all the attention she’s getting.

However, this isn’t uncommon in sports and Clark seems to be handling it just fine despite the apparent animosity toward her.
