Sauce Gardner Sounds Off On Comparisons With Other CBs

Ever since he made it to the league, NFL fans have raved about New York Jets star Sauce Gardner.

The Cincinnati product has already established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the league, a superstar in the making, and some believe he has everything to be one of the greatest players in his position.

Needless to say, that also leads to never-ending comparisons to fellow CBs like Tariq Woolen or Derek Stingley Jr., who were also taken in the same class and also made an immediate impact in the league — although not as big as his.

With that in mind, Gardner went on The Pivot (via Ari Meirov) to share his thoughts on the comparisons, and he had quite an interesting take on it.

#Jets CB Sauce Gardner says on @thepivot that he hates when people are comparing him to other CBs, like Tariq Woolen or Derek Stingley.

If anything, Sauce wants to support those guys.

Per Gardner, there’s no reason or need to compare what any of them does, mostly because they don’t even play against each other.

More than that, he wants everybody to get the praise and recognition they deserve, citing that there’s more than enough room for all of them to get what’s due.

That’s not a mentality you see too often in this league.

Most of the time, players talk about how they’re much better than their opposition.

Instead, Gardner knows that one’s success could lead to the other’s.

They could drive the CB market value up, and that’s a win for every single one of them.

Props to Sauce Gardner for staying humble and realizing that he doesn’t need to take anyone down to uplift himself.
