It’s no secret that Shohei Ohtani is one of, if not the best player in all of baseball today.
The Los Angeles Angels are lucky enough to have a player who can pitch like a true No. 1 starter and also hit like an MVP.
He earned American League MVP honors in 2021.
However, he isn’t stopping there.
As it turns out, he may be on pace to capture the award yet again.
And to nobody’s surprise, the two-way superstar leads an impressive list.
Ohtani finished the month of June with an fWAR of 6.1 on the season.
On Twitter, Jeff Passan of ESPN posted a list of players with the highest fWAR numbers through the month of June, and Ohtani sits at the top of that list.
Just for present context, the fWAR leaderboard in MLB through June:
Shohei Ohtani: 6.1
Ronald Acuña Jr: 4.5
Wander Franco: 3.7
Corbin Carroll: 3.6
Mookie Betts: 3.6
Luis Robert: 3.5
Kevin Gausman: 3.5

Freddie Freeman: 3.3
Juan Soto: 3.3
Zac Gallen: 3.3

Other players on the list include Ronald Acuna Jr., Wander Franco, Corbin Carroll, Mookie Betts, Luis Robert, Kevin Gausman, Freddie Freeman, Juan Soto, and Zac Gallen.
Ohtani also finds himself on the list a second time.
He posted a 3.4 fWAR in the month of June.
To make it even more impressive, his fWAR from just one month is higher than that of Freeman, Soto, and Gallen for the entire season, which shows just how dynamic of a player Ohtani is.
Being a two-way star can certainly help with that.
The 29-year-old is hitting .300 with 31 home runs, 68 RBI, and an OPS of 1.044.
He is also 7-4 through his first 17 starts of the season and owns an impressive ERA of 3.32 in 100.1 innings of work.
Ohtani has even struck out 132 batters.
