Sometimes, playing at Coors Field can be tough for pitchers.

With the higher altitude, the ball carries, leaving more room for home runs and higher run totals.

Certain pitchers struggle more than others at Coors Field.

But for the St. Louis Cardinals, there is a bad sign.

According to Fangraphs, Miles Mikolas, who draws the start for St. Louis on Tuesday, has had the toughest time of any pitcher at Coors Field.

The Colorado Rockies have hit .470 against him at Coors Field, and he owns a 12.41 ERA at the ballpark over the course of his career.

Sports betting analyst Ben Cary tweeted a screenshot of Mikolas’ Coors Field stats.

Miles Mikolas has the worst batting average of any pitcher at Coors Field all-time since 2002 (post-humidor).

I filtered to at least 10 IP and he was dead last (350 qualified pitchers).

He pitches against the Rockies in Coors on Tuesday.

With the Cardinals already off to a 3-7 start this season, this is not a good sign for them.

Of course, we won’t know more until the game takes place, but the most recent sample size is pretty troubling for St. Louis.

Their starting pitching woes have them in last place in the NL Central and off to their worst start since the 2017 season.

To make matters worse, Mikolas owns a 9.64 ERA in his first two starts, having allowed five runs in each of them.

The only Cardinals starter to have recorded a quality start is left-hander Jordan Montgomery, who did the honors on Saturday, pitching seven scoreless innings against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Mikolas did pitch six innings in his last start, but still allowed five runs against the Atlanta Braves and took his first loss of the season.

This is a trend he’ll look to offset in his next start.
