Days ago, the Golden State Warriors gave head coach Steve Kerr a big contract extension worth $17.5 million annually over the next two seasons.
That extension will keep him in his current role through the 2025-26 season.
Per Anthony Salter, Kerr admitted that his extension was partly designed to line up with the length of Stephen Curry’s contract.
“Let’s keep it rolling for another couple years and then reassess at that point,” Kerr said.

Kerr became the Warriors’ head coach for the 2014-15 season at a time when they were a good team, but nothing much more than that.
Kerr unlocked their potential by speeding up their offense and making them a fast-breaking team while utilizing more off-the-ball action, particularly for Curry, and improving their defense to the point where it became elite.
The result was three NBA championships in his first four seasons at the helm and a league-record 73 regular season wins during the 2015-16 campaign.
By shepherding young newcomers such as Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga, and Andrew Wiggins, Kerr got another ring out of Golden State just two seasons ago.
Golden State’s dynasty now appears to be running on fumes, and while they’re in 10th place in the Western Conference, they have won 10 of their last 13 games.
Their biggest problem right now seems to be the decline of Klay Thompson, who used to be Curry’s main co-star but tore his ACL and Achilles a few years ago.
Still, if they continue to win the majority of their games, no one would want to face them in either the play-in tournament or the playoffs, should they make it to the playoffs.
