Terrell Suggs Reportedly Denied A Player Request To Wear His Number

In the NFL, player numbers are often part of an athlete’s identity.

They typically follow them throughout their career, from childhood, to college, and hopefully, to the NFL as well.

In the case of Baltimore Ravens sophomore David Ojabo, it appears that his recent request to wear number 55 was denied.

That was Terrell Suggs’ number, and after Ojabo talked with him, he decided, “He’s a legend, so I’m gonna stick with 90.”

Suggs is widely recognized as one of the best Ravens defenders over the past several decades.

He racked up 886 total tackles, 139 sacks, 39 forced fumbles, and seven career interceptions.

Ojabo will look to have an impactful career for the Ravens, likely looking at Suggs’ career as inspiration.

He only played in one full game last season, as he was coming off an Achilles tear that was suffered during his pro day.

If it weren’t for that injury, Ojabo was being looked at as a potential top-10 pick, and a near-guaranteed first-rounder.

This injury caused him to fall into the second round when the Ravens gladly scooped him up.

Ojabo should be a welcomed addition to their defense for the full 2023 season, provided that he is healthy.

With Lamar Jackson now signed to a long-term deal, the Ravens will look to compete in the AFC North.

They’ll have their work cut out for them, especially given Joe Burrow’s presence in the division.

With any luck, Ojabo will be able to add to their defensive line, making it difficult on quarterbacks and opposing running games in general.
