The San Francisco 49ers are hungry to win their first Super Bowl since the 1994 season, and they have made a couple of personnel moves since this season started.
They acquired Randy Gregory, a defensive end, in early October, and at the end of the month, they landed Chase Young, a defensive lineman who was the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020.
Young had a nice 49ers debut on Sunday, and although his individual stats weren’t impressive, he did revitalize the team’s pass rush attack in a 34-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On Thursday, they worked out cornerback Jason Verrett, who had previously played for them from 2019 to 2022, per Field Yates.

Verrett was the No. 25 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the then-San Diego Chargers, and he played four seasons for the franchise while getting named to the Pro Bowl in 2015 when he registered 12 passes defended and three interceptions.
Throughout his career, he has struggled to remain on the field — he has only played in more than six games during the 2015 and 2020 seasons.
If San Francisco, who currently holds a 6-3 record, does have a weakness, it’s the right side of the offensive line and the cornerback position.
While they do have one stud corner in Charvarius Ward, their other corners haven’t gotten the job done, and sometimes it seems they have even been hunted by opposing offenses.
In particular, Deommodore Lenoir has given up a 70.2 percent completion rate when the man he has guarded has been targeted on a pass attempt by the opposing quarterback.
