One of the things that makes draft day in the NFL special is the fact that players who get selected will be able to empower their loved ones with the money they receive on their new contracts.
Plenty of NFL players come from humble beginnings, and getting drafted means a golden ticket for their loved ones into the upper reaches of America’s socioeconomic hierarchy.
With their first-round choice in this year’s draft, the Los Angeles Chargers took wide receiver Quentin Johnston from Texas Christian University, and right after he was drafted he told his mother, who was in attendance, to retire from her job.

Johnston had 60 receptions, 1,069 yards, and six touchdowns in 2022, and he is known as a speed threat downfield, something the Chargers have badly needed.
They have two stud wideouts in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, but neither can get downfield at a high speed, and a legitimate speed threat who can stretch the field more could make life easier for both of them.
Johnston also has nice size at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, and he has the ability to add yards after the catch at an elite level.
QJ to the CHARGERS!
At 6’3 210, Quentin Johnston is a big reciever with YAC ability.
In 2022, he was 2nd in the FBS with 8.9 YAC per reception.

The Chargers are coming off a hugely injury-riddled season in which they won 10 games, only to blow a 27-0 first-half lead and lose in the final seconds to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card playoff round.
With new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, L.A. is hoping to take the next step forward and at least give themselves a puncher’s chance at reaching the Super Bowl.
