The Carolina Panthers started the 2023 NFL offseason off with a bang, trading for the number one overall pick in the NFL Draft.
After this trade, the Panthers were aggressive in free agency, adding players like Adam Thielen, D.J. Chark, Miles Sanders, and Von Bell.
Recently, the Panthers announced another addition to their team, defensive tackle John Penisini.

Penisini was a sixth-round draft pick in 2020 and played two seasons for the Detroit Lions.
After the 2021 season, Penisini announced that he would be retiring from the NFL, and hasn’t played in the league since.
However, it appears that Penisini has changed his mind, as he is coming out of retirement to join the Panthers.
The Panthers have changed significantly during the offseason and have gone through a lot of changes.
Not to mention, the Panthers will enter the 2023 season with a new head coach, which happens to be the organization’s first-ever quarterback, Frank Reich.
Penisini joins a defense that contains star players like Jeremy Chinn, Jaycee Horn, and Frankie Luvu.
With any luck, Penisini will be able to resurrect his NFL career with the Panthers, making his impact felt on this defense.
Last season, the Panthers’ defense allowed 22.9 points per game, which was the 11th-highest total in the league.
With their new additions in mind, the Panthers are looking to turn their organization around under their new coach.
The Panthers are also likely to be led by a rookie quarterback in 2023, given their recent trade for the number one overall pick.
