Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers has had a fantastic season and has enhanced his game in a number of ways.
In fact, he is regularly spoken of as a potential Most Improved Player winner this year because of the way that his output has increased for the Sixers.
Speaking to Sam DiGiovanni, Maxey spoke about the way that he has changed this year, partly because of the loss of Joel Embiid.
Without Embiid, Maxey had to become more of a leader and was also exposed to the defense of many other teams.
“I think my mind has expanded,” Maxey said.
“So, I’m prepared. I’m ready to play now. I just don’t like sitting around, waiting,” he added.
Tyrese Maxey said playing without Joel Embiid exposed him to various defensive coverages, which has made him more prepared for the playoffs.

Maxey averaged 25.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game this season, shooting 45% from the field and 37.3% from beyond the three-point line.
Last season, Maxey posted 25.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.
The season started in a rough spot for the 76ers, with the team having just lost James Harden after a very bitter and public dispute.
Maxey knew then that he would need to step up and produce even more for his team.
He did that with total ease and has remained consistent since then.
Maxey has welcomed the responsibility of leading his team without Embiid and facing the defense of tough competitors.
Because of that, he earned his first All-Star appearance and has started in every single game he’s played in this year.
But now the 76ers are about to face the Play-In Tournament.
They first have to face the Miami Heat in the Play-In and then could push into the playoffs after that.
It is now time for Maxey to prove, again, just how his mind has expanded and how much he wants to play.
