Over the past few days, outside of the trade rumors swirling around about James Harden and Damian Lillard, the Los Angeles Lakers have dominated the headlines, with the consensus being that they are the big winners in NBA free agency thus far.
The Lakers didn’t wait long to make a move once free agency got underway this past Friday, as they signed sharpshooting forward Taurean Prince, formerly of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Then the team made a move that no one saw coming, with Rob Pelinka and company agreeing to terms with former Miami Heat guard Gabe Vincent on a three-year deal worth $33 million.
That move signaled to the rest of the league that the Lakers weren’t messing around this summer and knew exactly what they wanted to do to improve their roster.
On Monday, Vincent was seen for the first time since agreeing to sign with the Lakers, as he was courtside when his new team took the floor at the Golden 1 Center to get the California Classic underway against his former team, via Lakers Vino.

With the Lakers committing to Vincent for the next three years, the undrafted guard will be playing a vital role on the team moving forward and might be able to earn that starting role at the point guard position.
Along with bringing in Vincent, the Lakers re-signed D’Angelo Russell to a two-year deal, which could lead to a training camp battle for the starting role.
Fortunately for Los Angeles, the team will benefit one way or the other, with both players more than capable of excelling in the starting lineup or off the bench.
