Wild Stat Highlights Differences Between 2 Jets Units

Despite rumblings that Aaron Rodgers is targeting a return before the end of the 2023 NFL season, the New York Jets are likely going to miss the playoffs.

In Rodgers’ absence, the Jets’ offense has sputtered toward the bottom of the league and has left fans already dreaming about what the team can look like in 2024.

New York has been one of the most unwatchable teams as of late given their offensive woes and it’s hard to imagine that Rodgers will be able to fix everything wrong.

Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle have been disastrous in their starts, and players like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall have suffered as a result.

However, the defense continues to be one of the best units in the league and have even allowed the Jets to stay competitive in certain matchups.

The gap between the New York offense and defense is massive and one stat highlights just how different the two units are via FOX.

The #Jets defense has more safeties in the first quarter this season than the #Jets offense has touchdowns, per the FOX broadcast.

That’s bonkers.

Safeties are a rare occurrence given the conditions needed to record one, so while it’s impressive that the defense has been able to generate so many it does speak to the futility of the offense.

There aren’t many instances where the Jets are able to drive the ball all the way downfield into the red zone, but not being able to score more touchdowns than safeties almost seems unbelievable.

Widespread changes have to be coming for New York given how poorly this season has gone, but for now fans will have to endure another rough year of losing football.
